Tell me about yourself.
CG: My name is Chloe Griffin, 20 years old born in Jacksonville, FL. and raised in Fayetteville, NC. I currently live in Greensboro, NC. Where I attend the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I'm a junior majoring in the schools Consumer Apparel Retail Studies program while minoring in Communications.
How would you define your personal style?
CG: If I had to define my style I would definitely say versatility is the first word that comes to mind. The way I see it is, if im able to pull of stuff that other people can't why not use it as my advantage and play around with my look. I think life is all about finding who you are and setting yourself apart from the rest.
Me personally, I adore the tomboy chic look. I love wearing sneakers, I was never really a sandals kind of girl although sometimes you may catch me wearing them..feet just have never been my thing. Pairing up a nice pair of sneakers with a dress, boyfriend jeans, or oversized tshirts to pairing up a pair of heels with baggy jeans or joggers is perfect for me. I just like to be comfortable in my clothing and looser in the fit, but I won't leave the house without "feminizing" it up a little with accessories such as rings, watches, bangles, hats, and the fashion lords gift to women - crop tops.
Who is your current favorite fashion/style icon?
CG: My current favorite fashion / style icon would have to be between Rihanna, and rising artist, Kehlani. Their style is the exact kind of style I know I'll be showcasing once I'm in the limelight. Not just with their outer but their inner as well. They are themselves and really don't care who likes it or not, they are just free spirits. Rihanna is so bold no matter what she does. Whether it be her hair, clothing, or whatever else, she murders it. Whether it's her elegant look or her tailored to fit pants suits. I love it all. Then there's Kehlani, and she just exemplifies that tomboy chic look that I explained previously. From the sneakers to the tattoos. Im only on my sixth tattoo right now so I'm not quite on her level yet, but I think what she represents is beautiful for our young girls.
I've heard your Jhene Aiko 'The Worst' cover on Instagram. Your voice is beautiful! Are you going to put out music in the future?
CG: Aww, Thank you, I really appreciate that truly! And the answer is YES! For the longest time I didn't want to involve myself with the music industry. But after realizing and accepting art as my passion I decided not to run away from it anymore. So, I am currently working on my releases now in the studio. I write all of my music and when you write on your own the process can sometimes take longer because you have to pull from deep emotions so this summer that's basically all I've done is pulled from my emotions and put it into my writing for music. August will be the month where the world can see what I've been working on.
What/who motivates you?
CG: The question of who and what motivates me are intertwined with no one, and nothing other than God. Besides feeling like he's blessed me personally, I feel like he has blessed us all. This world we live in has so many opportunities for everyone, no matter where you came from. There's so much beauty and there's so much to experience. Everyday I feel too tired to get up and be productive that's what pushes me. All the things I haven't seen and experienced yet that I know could one day, with hard work, be my reality.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
CG: In five years I see myself living. Really living. Residing in California but traveling the world spreading my brand. Aside from the music and the many people I would love to collab with, I want to start motivational blogging and eventually start motivationally speaking all over the globe. I don't feel like there are enough women, especially African American that are positively impacting our youth and I hope to change that with my music and movement.
