Tell me about yourself.
I: I'm Indigo. I'm 20 and I'm a brooklyn girl.
How long have you been styling?
I: I've been styling for about 3 years.
How did you get into styling?
I: I've always had an eye for fashion and always been really into clothes beyond the materialistic view of them. I view styling as an art which I think distinguishes me from other stylists. When I'm creating looks I am inspired by literally everything. The outdoors, other people in my life, and food as crazy as it sounds. Styling is just my outlet to fully express myself in hopes of make someone else feel amazing. Fashion police and my mother are also huge influences when it comes to my love for styling.
Do you remember the first time you styled a photo shoot? What shoot was it and how was your experience?
I: Omg yes I was terrified. It was for XXL's 2013 freshman cover. I spent the entire night scrambling and trying to pull together looks. I was nervous as hell. I was 17 and completely ready to just kill shit. In the end I had soooo much fun. The other stylists showed so much love towards me and I just felt like what I was doing was appreciated. Most were shocked at my age but I proved myself in the end and it was a super dope outcome.
How would you describe your personal style?
I: "Boy girl" lol. I developed that simple phrase based off the very popular tomboy trend. I feel like it's hard for girls who don't dress like your girl next door to find cool things without looking in the guys section. Which is totally fine considering most of my clothes are guy clothes. I just wish we had a dope place that sold clothes that weren't solely based on portraying that girly girl image. But yeah I'm into being comfortable but I have appreciation for really dope pieces that add to the outfit. I love shoes and bags. I feel like those 2 things complete any look.
If you had to wear one designer for the rest of your life what designer would that be?
I: It's between Alexander McQueen and Balmain. Their collections make me super emotional (lol) and I wouldnt mind eating, sleeping, living life and dying in either of their designs.
List a few of your closet must haves.
I: A leather jacket, weird unique denim, fun boots and classic sneakers.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I: Super successful. I plan on creating a line that girls who aren't "girly girls" will definitely appreciate. I'm also starting to develop my own styling firm. I see myself as a business woman with a lot of dope shit to share with the world.
